Dive Into the Deepest Swimming Pool in the World at This Aquatic Oasis

The deepest pool in the world is set to open later in 2019, and it will truly be a sight to behold. Currently under construction in Mszczonow, Poland — just under 30 miles from Warsaw — the Deepspot diving pool will contain underwater caves and overhangs, and divers will have an opportunity to go as much as 148 feet below the surface.

The massive structure — it will hold 8,000 cubic meters of water, and roughly 1,100 tons of steel are being employed to build it — is not for leisurely swimmers or those hoping to take a quick dip. The pool will serve as a training ground for professional scuba divers, though beginners will also have an opportunity to dive in it. It will also serve as a tourist destination. It will feature an underwater tunnel, where visitors can watch the divers down below. There will also be “conference rooms, training rooms, and hotel rooms with a view coming out on [the] diving pool’s interior,” according to Flyspot’s website. (Flyspot is the company that owns and oversees the Deepspot diving pool project.)

The Deepspot diving pool may not hold the title of deepest in the world for very long. In 2020, the Blue Abyss pool in Colchester, England is expected to open, and that will reportedly be 164 feet deep. What can we expect from that one?

According to Blue Abyss’ website, its “primary function is to enable extreme environment development, both human and robotic, ranging from the offshore energy industry through to the growing human spaceflight sector and adventure tourism.”
