Definition of "cork-borer" []

  • Any one of the following insects, which bore into the corks of wine-bottles: Rhizophagus bipustulatus, a nitidulid beetle; Tinea cloacella; Endrosis lactulla; and Asopia farinalis. One of the sow-bugs, Oniscus murarius, also has this habit, but probably only follows insect damage. (noun)
