WATCH: Photographer Assembles the Avengers of Bullying
Since their introduction in the late 1930s, comic book superheroes have often been used as escapist fantasy by children who deal with bullying. However, one photographer has taken things to whole new level, with a photoshoot that casts children who’ve been picked on as the Avengers of Bullying.

As shown in the video below, photographer Josh Rossi (who had previously taken photos of sick children dressed as DC’s Justice League) assembled a group of kids who’d been victims of bullying – some of whom had even been driven to self-harm – and dressed them as the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Characters from The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy were featured, including Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Star Lord, Draxx, and Gamora.
Rossi shared each of the kids’ individual stories on his Instagram account.
“These kids are brave to put themselves out there and share their stories with the world,” he said. “They are an example of what we can accomplish when we unite our voices.”
In addition to receiving a modicum of internet fame, the Avengers of Bullying were able to meet some of the film series’ stars — including Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddelston, and Tom Holland — at a comic book convention.
