This Haunted House in Illinois Is Straight Out of a Nightmare

The inn was once a hotel, and many claimed that it was actually haunted by ghosts. Now, decades later, the property has been purchased by new owners and repurposed into a haunted playground.

Although the Raven’s Grin Inn was a creepy place originally, this house has been designed to be even more terrifying. It’s full of gags, tricks, and scares that might just leave you in tears. All of these intricate contraptions were created by the owner of the inn, Jim Warfield.

The tour is open to the general public and a full visit usually takes up to two hours. Before taking the tour, each person is required to view a legal warning that anyone with a medical condition — such as having asthma or being prone to seizures — should enter the haunted house at their own peril. Even taking the tour requires a certain level of physical fitness as there are labyrinths, tunnels, slides, and stairways littered throughout the facility. One of the slides is actually five stories tall.
