Coal is a source of power still energizing the world today. A usage of 21 million metric tons per day affirms that it is no longer a dwindling resource, even though it was for a period. In June, President Donald Trump pulled out of the Paris climate agreement, partly in a bid to protect the U.S. coal industry, and steelmaking coal mines (as opposed to steam-producing mines) have been opened up since. But is Trump foolish to “help American business and workers” ahead of regulating the harmful levels of fossil fuel burning? Either way, one thing is clear: Metallurgical coal is experiencing a new boom.
