The Littlefield House Is the Most Haunted Spot in American Academia
Haunted| | By David Clarke
The Littlefield House is one of the most haunted spots in academia. It is located on the University of Texas (or UT) campus. The house was built in 1893 especially for Civil War veteran George Littlefield and his wife Alice. When Alice died, she requested that the amazing structure be left to the well-known university in Austin. Now what made George Littlefield so special to UT?
Well, he was a very successful businessman that gave significant amounts of money to the school. He gave money to the university for the Littlefield Fountain, Main Building, Littlefield Dormitory, and a building located in downtown Austin that was completed in 1912. The house is no stranger to ghost and horror stories. Young children of UT staff members have reported ghost sightings, unexplained bumps in the night, and the granddaughter of the staff members said her grandmother had the aroma of a ghost from working in the building. There is one ghost that keeps the house on their toes and that is the ghost of Alice Littlefield. Workers say they have heard her playing the piano during late night hours and others say items have been moved from one area to another without their knowledge. It sounds like she wants to reclaim her home!
The Littlefield House also has a set of apartments named after it. They are located near the UT campus and come in handy for UT students due to the close proximity of the apartments to the campus. They make amazing spaces for students, professors, and staff that work at the college. The apartments are condos so they are a nice size for a great price. The rents are reasonable and they have many floor plans to choose from. Pets are also welcomed at the condos.
The house spans 430 acres with its Victorian style and towering structure. The house has gone through little renovation. It is one of the most talked about spots on the UT campus and it remains at the top of the list of haunted places located in Austin, Texas. If you live in the Austin area or plan to visit there, then you will want to spend some quality time taking in the beauty of the Littlefield House.
