Most of us venture out to supermarkets on a weekly basis with a shopping list in hand, scouring the aisles to restock our fridges with household staples and our favorite foods. Some of us shop for bargains and what’s on sale, while others are loyal to a specific grocery retailer. Which grocery stores are known for their vast product array? Which one has the friendliest cashiers? Who has the best value?

Market Force Information may have some answers for you. The retail consulting firm conducted a study of more than 12,700 shoppers who frequent supermarkets across America. The shoppers were asked which ones excelled in value, cashier courtesy, fast checkouts, product availability, search ease, specialty department services, and cleanliness. The scoring system was based on customer satisfaction and the likelihood of recommending the store to others.

The annual study found that Publix, which ranked second for the past four years, tied for first place with Wegman’s as America’s favorite place to food shop. Each scored 77 percent on Market Force’s Customer Loyalty Index. Curious about where the other supermarkets ranked? How does your favorite stand up to competition? Check out this list of the best supermarkets from the survey to find out. Each chain’s Customer Loyalty Index score is next to their name.
