Television Throwback: The Best ‘M.A.S.H.’ Episodes

With its premiere in 1972, M.A.S.H. followed a group of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M*A*S*H) officers during the Korean War as they treated patients and had fun to pass time.  The “MASH” unit was led by captains Hawkeye Pierce (Alan Alda) and Trapper John McIntyre (Wayne Rogers), who added a sense of humor to the seriousness of the conflict.

Originally, M.A.S.H. wasn’t a hit, but a strong following developed, and the show remained on television for a whopping 11 years. The final episode, titled “Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen,’’ aired on Feb. 28, 1983, and set the standard for series finales. During the show’s final six minutes, viewership was at an all-time high of 121.6 million people.
